Shri Rangji Mandir
About temple:
  • Sri Rangji Mandir, located in Vrindavan, is dedicated to Lord Sri GodaRangamannar, embodying the divine couple of Lord Krishna and Andal, a prominent 8th-century Vaishnava saint. Andals poetic work, "Tiruppuvai," reflects her profound love for Lord Krishna, and her three wishes, including becoming Krishnas bride, were fulfilled through the establishment of this temple. The temple, constructed in 1851 A.D., stands as a magnificent blend of south and north Indian temple architecture, resembling the Sri Ranganatha Swami temple in Sri Rangam but with adaptations for local craftsmanship.
  • The temple structure features five concentric rectangular enclosures around the sanctum sanctorum, with stone gates carved in Jaipur style. A wooden chariot is displayed annually during Brahmotsav, and the entrance through the western gate leads to a seven-storeyed gopuram and electrically operated leelas depicting the stories of Lord Rama and Lord Krishna. The eastern side boasts a five-storeyed gopuram and a significant pond called "Pushkarni," complemented by a garden where Andal is paraded on Fridays. The temple also houses various shrines, including those dedicated to Lord Ram, Lord Ranganath, and Sri Hanumanji, along with the Goverdhan Peeth and the residential quarters of priests.
  • Within the temple, visitors encounter a clockwise sequence of spaces, including the cookhouse, various deities sanctuaries, and the gold-plated "Dhwaja Stambha." The main deity, Sri Goda-Rangamannar, resides in the center, accompanied by Sri Goda Devi and Sri Garudaji. Surrounding sanctuaries honor figures such as Sri Sudarshanji, Sri Narsimhaji, Lord Venkateshawra, Sri VenuGopalji, Sri Alwar Sannidhis, and Sri Ramanujacharya Swamji, among others. The temple not only serves as a place of worship but also hosts cultural events, rituals, and festivals throughout the year.
